Requirements

Age
Application instructions ask for date of birth to confirm applicants are at least 18.
County
You are commissioned for the county where you live or regularly work as a Missouri resident. You may notarize anywhere in the state.
Training
Take the online training course or written training course before applying.
Fee (as posted)
$25 application fee. Include a certificate of state-approved notary training or the completed written training form.

How to get started

  1. Complete the training

  2. Apply online or by mail

    Sign the notarial oath on the form. Then purchase a notary public surety bond (the how-to lists that as step 5).

  3. Register on StampSide

    After you use the Missouri Secretary of State site, create a public page: photo, where you work, and how clients reach you. You can appear in the Missouri directory. The page stays unpublished until a commission is on file.
