How to get started

1. 01

   File the application through your Legislative Delegation

   The SOS notaries page says that if you pay by card, a payment link is emailed after the Secretary of State receives the application from the Legislative Delegation.

   Use the SOS application PDF

   A Notary Public Application and Renewal Application is posted on the SOS site.

3. 03

   Register on StampSide

   After you use the South Carolina Secretary of State site, create a public page: photo, where you work, and how clients reach you. You can appear in the South Carolina directory. The page stays unpublished until a commission is on file.

Remote / electronic notarization

South Carolina’s Electronic Notary Public Act allows a commissioned notary to register as an electronic notary. Online e-notary registration is open to commissioned notaries.
